Liz Illman studied Design and Heraldry at the Berkshire School of Art and began her career as a Display Designer.
A life of travelling with her Diplomat husband gave her the opportunity and inspiration for the work she loves in painting foliage and flowers in their natural habitat. She brings to her work the excitement of her experiences whilst living in Africa and South America.
Her paintings reflect a love of colour, shapes and vibrancy of the flowers and foliage which she loves to express in her large and detailed watercolours. Her strong sense of design and understanding of the use of light is very evident.
She studied further at the Maidenhead School of Art in the eighties when she became a member of the Maidenhead Painting Club.
Since returning to the UK in 2000, Liz has exhibited in shared exhibitions with Maidenhead Painting Group. She had a gap in her work whilst caring for her husband who was seriously ill but recently she has rediscovered her love of creative work.
